Fans Call for Arrest of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the actress are demanding that a man who leaped a barrier and seized the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A circulating clip depicts the Australian man bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the actors walked down a yellow carpet flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "released after being arrested", though legal records revealed that he was scheduled to be present on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Record of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a performance. His Instagram account includes videos of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney performance in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last December.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is obviously a legal violation," stated an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Fans Show Disapproval Over the Star's Past Trauma
Several followers accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed experiencing PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented one more comment on Instagram.
Some attendees also criticised security officers at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while others requested digital services to block Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Premiere Information
In videos circulating online, Grande seemed startled when she was touched by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Many of fans had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore venue, including some who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The motion picture, to be released on November 21, is the second of a dual interpretation of the well-known stage show Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely bond between two very different witches.
The musical itself is a derivative of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of 2024 in the UK, and received a dozen Academy Award nods, securing several for best costume and set decoration.
