Former Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences â including some against children younger than 13 â spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official said, âLegal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.â
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police called a âdetailed inquiryâ into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
