Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
