Man Who Reached For Ariana Grande at Premiere Prohibited from Singapore
A man from Australia that leaped across a fence and grabbed actress Ariana Grande has been deported and prohibited from Singapore.
The individual, twenty-six, was given a sentence to over a week in detention for causing a public disturbance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority stated to news outlets.
He forced his way past photographers and charged at the performer and artist, who was present at the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on November 13. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.
He has a background of causing disturbances at events and star-studded occasions, including rushing the stage at the pop star's Australian show in the past June.
The occurrence caused anger in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of causing further distress to the star.
The singer has discussed dealing with PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her concert in the English city in several years ago took the lives of 22 individuals and affected hundreds.
During Wen's trial, the court heard he had made efforts to breach on the film's premiere multiple times, according to regional reports.
He then made a second attempt to breach security. Protection personnel intercepted him and held him in place.
He then uploaded recordings appreciating the celebrity for permitting his access and said he was "released."
Police arrested him the next day and charged him with disorderly conduct, to which he confessed.
The Presiding Judge the magistrate was cited by media reports as stating that Wen was "attention seeking", commenting that he was mistaken to assume he would not suffer any consequences.
The actress has not addressed the situation.
The co-star mentioned the situation to a media outlet, saying that she "only aimed to make sure my friend was protected."
"I'm sure he had no intention to us injury, but you cannot be certain with such situations, and I wanted to make sure that she was fine. That was my first instinct," she stated.
