Manchester United Poised to Sign German Forward Lea Schüller away from the Bavarian Giants
Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move from Bayern Munich.
A Major Acquisition for the WSL Side
Schüller, who has half a year left on her deal, is known as a consistent goal-getter for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. Her arrival will be seen as a major signing for the Women’s Super League side.
Departure from Bayern has been anticipated after she appeared to be fighting back tears while applauding the club's fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
Reports in late December that the German women's top flight was set to lose one of its leading forwards. Per reports, the formalities for the transfer are now finalised.
Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen the Attack
The 28-year-old’s signing should represent a major uplift to the team's forward line. She has been remarkably reliable with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.
Building Momentum at Old Trafford
The acquisition of the German international comes at a time when the club seem to be gathering momentum.
Their recent performances feature securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

- The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023.
On the midfielder's extension, a senior figure commented: “Miyazawa is now a critical part to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and skill allows her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
